Everyday, the Search Engines average
300 MILLION searches conducted by people looking for
information, products, and services. In fact, a recent Forrester
Research report found that 81% of consumers on
the Internet find products and services by using Search Engines.
Search Engine Optimization or “SEO” allows you
to achieve top search engine placement and
visibility and tap into a new source of qualified
visitors who are actively searching
for products and services on the Internet.
Millions of people search for
the term “web hosting” each and every month. Now, imagine if you
had a web hosting company and you could get ranked in the top 10
results at Google search term. The shear volume of “ready to
buy” visitors coming to your web site would literally
transform your business overnight by
skyrocketing your sales and profits.
Unfortunately, a recent StatMarket.com study
found that only 7% of all websites are visible
by the search engines. The reason for this is that most web
sites are not properly optimized for maximum Search Engine
Visibility.
How Do You Optimize Your Web Site For The Search Engines?
The first step is to make sure you have the
right keywords in the right places on your web
pages. For example, you’ll want to have your keywords in your
web page title tags, H1 tags, body text, alt tags, and anchor
text. But, putting keywords on your web pages is only
the first 5% of the battle. The other 95% of the battle
of getting high search engine rankings is acquiring
quality and relevant links pointing to your web site.
Ever since Google entered the
search engine market, all Search Engines have started using
in-bound links as the primary way they rank web
sites. This is known as your web site’s “Link
Popularity” or in Google’s case it’s called
“PageRank” or “PR.”
For example, the heart of Google’s algorithm
is PageRank, a system for ranking web pages developed by Google
founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin
at Stanford University . Here is what Google says about their
“PageRank” web site ranking algorithm at their
web site…
“PageRank relies on the uniquely
democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as
an indicator of an individual page's value. In essence,
Google interprets a link from page A to page B
as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google
looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page
receives; it also analyzes the page that casts the vote.
Votes cast by pages that are themselves "important" weigh more
heavily and help to make other pages ‘important.’
As Google explains, Links and Google
PageRank are critical to ranking high
in the search engines. In fact, anchor text and inbound
links account for 95% of effective search engine
optimization.
